Choose the exact site
Check that it accepts your waste and your vehicle. A nearby centre can have different rules from another centre run by the same council.
Open the official booking page
Use the provider link on the location page. Do not rely on an old confirmation email or an unofficial social media post.
Enter the visit details
The form can ask for your address, vehicle registration, waste types and preferred time. Select the real vehicle and waste type.
Save the confirmation
Keep the booking reference or email on your phone. Note the arrival window and any last-entry time.
Check again before leaving
Look for a closure notice, a full container or a change to accepted materials. Cancel the slot if you cannot use it.
Booking rules differ by council and by site
There is no single UK booking system. A council can require a slot at every centre, at selected centres or only at weekends. It can also set different booking windows for cars and vans.
Birmingham currently asks users to book at several household recycling centres, but car users do not need a slot at one listed site while its booking system is paused. Warwickshire is introducing weekend bookings at selected centres in 2026. These examples show why the exact provider page matters.

Details to have ready
Keep your postcode, address and vehicle registration close to hand. Some systems also ask which waste streams you plan to use. This helps the site control traffic and direct each load to the correct containers.
Use your own details and enter the registration of the vehicle that will arrive. A site can refuse entry if the booking and vehicle do not match. If the vehicle is hired, check whether the hire agreement must be shown.
What to take to the gate
Take the booking reference and any proof of address named by the council. A digital copy can be accepted at some sites, but another council can require an original or a document issued within a set period.
A permit and a booking are separate controls. If your vehicle or waste needs a permit, a booking alone might not be enough. Check both before you travel.
